Description

Spinach-like vegetable, creeping, thick-leaved plant that can be harvested all summer like spinach, because it does not shoot like spinach at high temperatures. Slow to develop when young, but then grows rapidly. Ground cover and "as a living mulch." Bushy, herbaceous plants. Grows to about 50 cm tall. Strong, intense flavor. Preparation like spinach. Sensitive to frost, but seeds survive winter. Little susceptible to pests and diseases.

Non hybrid

Not frost resistant

Growing tips

Pre-swell seeds for 24 h. Keep moist. Foil cover helpful. Long germination period. Belongs to the Aizoaceae family, so no problems with crop rotation or mixed cropping. Good neighbors are cabbages like tomatoes. Can be harvested continuously from July. Regular but not complete harvesting encourages new shoots to form. Propagation by seed.
