Description

The Bolivar variety is juicy, bolt-resistant, robust and high-yielding. The taste is mildly spicy. Round, deep red, smooth-skinned turnips with upright foliage. Old variety. Sometimes also referred to as "Detroit 2/Bolivar".

Growing tips

Well-drained, humus-rich, nutrient-rich and moist soil, deep, not too acidic. Sowing depth approx. 2-3 cm. Best sowing for storage crops May/June. Germination after approx. 8-10 days. Sensitive to night frosts. Optimum germination temperature 25°C (from 15°C). Spread out if necessary. Medium feeder, avoid over-fertilization. Harvest approx. 3-4 months after sowing. Baby beds already after 5-6 weeks. Can be stored in a cool, frost-proof cellar.
