Broccoli, root vegetables and leek

In this mixed crop, broccoli grows together with root and tuber vegetables. The heavy eater stands together with medium-eating plants such as celeriac and fennel as well as black salsify and radish. Celery is said to help keep the cabbage white butterfly away from broccoli. In between, there are leeks, which also keep numerous pests and diseases away from the bed with their strong scent. This mixed crop is supplemented with flowers and herbs such as oregano, camomile and marigolds. Rocket and pak choi are sown in the gaps as secondary crops. Suitable pre-crops are chard, spinach, rocket, lettuce and peas.
