Description

The prickly, dried inflorescences used to be used for carding (combing) wool and for roughening woolen fabrics. An undemanding, thistle-like plant that flowers purple and attracts many insects. The leaves form deep hollows in which dew and rainwater collect - insects and birds can drink from them. Used as a decorative ornamental plant and dried flower.
