High-yielding vegetable specialty native to East Asia with up to 1 m long, thickened, juicy, little bitter, club-shaped stems. During the only short rosette stage, the outer leaves can be harvested like pick lettuce. The juicy fleshy pithy stems have a slight kohlrabi flavor and can be eaten raw or boiled/steamed/fried. Reaches a stem diameter up to about 5 cm and a stalk weight between 500-800g. Use without leaves and peel. Excellent wok vegetables

Sowing from February on the windowsill. Seed only lightly cover with soil. Germination in 5-8 days at 10-18°C. After development of cotyledons, prick out into pots and plant outdoors after about 6 weeks. Weed regularly and avoid competition to form a strong stem. Harvest just before flowering. Culture time of 50 to 60 days.
