The Fidalgo Roxa chili comes from Brazil and is a very pretty variety. The chilli peppers have the shape of a small, elongated lantern, are approx. 4 cm long and are reminiscent of sweets. They ripen from black-green to salmon pink with a beautiful transition to purple. Very decorative and also fruity and aromatic with a medium pungency. The plants grow up to 80 cm tall, have purple foliage and are very productive.
Non hybrid
Not frost resistant
Chili should be grown in nutrient-rich soil in a sunny location. For a rich harvest, the first flower (terminal bud/'king flower') should be broken off. This promotes flower and fruit formation on the side shoots. However, this is not as important for chili peppers as it is for peppers. Pull the plants with 3-4 shoots and remove the remaining shoots. In Central Europe, cultivation is usually annual, but the highest yield is only achieved 2-3 years after planting. To achieve this, the plant must be overwintered indoors. The fruits are harvested from July to September, depending on the variety and weather conditions. Care: The germination temperature is between 22 and 28°C (6 - 20 days germination time), so the use of a greenhouse and a heating mat is recommended. The plants need fresh, well-fertilized, well-drained soil and do not tolerate waterlogging. They should be placed in a full sun, sheltered spot with at least 6 hours of sunlight, preferably more. Place the plants outside approx. 2 to 3 weeks after the last frost. If you plant them outdoors, the plants should be 50 - 60 cm apart. The main harvest takes place after approx. 3 months of ripening.
