Is this tomato really the variety that Alexander von Humboldt brought back from America? There is no clear answer to this question. Very good, firm, crunchy pink-red cherry tomatoes, significantly larger than many other wild tomato varieties. They taste more spicy than sweet and somewhat like raspberries. Many, many delicious cherry tomato-sized tomatoes can be harvested well into the fall. Robust, sets well in colder weather as well as in heat. Plant is vigorous, bushy, tolerates several stems. Does not need to be thinned out, but it is not a bad idea to thin it out a little.
Non hybrid
Not frost resistant
The optimum germination temperature is between 20-25°C and germination takes place after 8-14 days. Tomatoes require a lot of light, warmth, water and nutrients. They are grown from seed from March onwards on the windowsill. The seedlings should be planted deep, up to the first leaf base, so that the root system is enlarged by additional lateral roots. Unlike most other crops, tomatoes should always be planted in the same place. Under-sowing with low-growing plants is a good option.
