The fruits of this red cherry tomato ripen on long panicles. They can be harvested fresh like vine tomatoes. The taste is pleasantly tomato with a balance of sweetness and acidity. The special feature of the raisin tomato is that the fruit skin is porous and the tomatoes can be dried on the panicle to make tomato raisins. To do this, hang the whole panicle with the ripe fruit in an airy place. Tomatoes prefer a loose, nutrient-rich, humus-rich soil in a warm, sunny spot. Plant in sheltered open ground or greenhouse from mid-May, when it is safely frost-free.
