Description

'Artisan Pink Tiger' is the name of this beautiful multicolored bottle tomato from 'Artisan Seeds' in the USA. It is part of Fred Hempel's wonderful 'Artisan series', in which the elongated varieties are called 'Tiger' and the round ones 'Bumblebee'. All these tomatoes are spectacularly flamed, marbled or striped. 'Pink Tiger' is a further development of the popular 'Blush Tiger'. It was bred by Fred Hempel at his Baia Nicchia Farm in Sunol (CA) and introduced in 2012. The vigorous plants have dark green, normal-leaved, relatively serrated foliage and grow up to 2m tall. 'Pink Tiger' takes around 60-70 days from fertilization to harvest maturity. 6-8 fruits grow per panicle. If the fruit clusters branch out, up to 15 tomatoes can be harvested from one vine. The elongated oval tomatoes have 2 fruit chambers and end in a point. When ripe, they are pink-red in color and orange-yellow marbled. The fruits are 2-3 cm in diameter, 4-6 cm long and weigh up to 30g. A largely burst-resistant, crisp but not hard skin surrounds the juicy, soft flesh. The taste is fruit-like and fruity sweet.
