The blueberry is a very special cocktail tomato. The blue-violet coloring is due to the anthocyanin pigment, which increases the antioxidant content and makes the tomato particularly healthy. The medium-sized, round fruits are blue-purple from the start if they receive enough sunlight to produce the blue pigment. Where the sepals cover the fruit or on the underside, where less sunlight reaches, the fruits ripen from green to red. The Blueberry is definitely an interesting eye-catcher in the garden. The plants are vigorous and grow to a height of 1.50 - 2.50 meters, depending on the location. The flavor of the fruit is unusual and tasty, with an interesting mix of sweetness and acidity.
Non hybrid
Not frost resistant
Care: Blueberry tomatoes can be grown indoors, in a greenhouse or outdoors. The optimum germination temperature is between 20-28°C and germination takes place after 6-15 days. To speed up germination, the seeds can be pre-soaked overnight in a damp cloth. Plant out the pre-germinated plants only after the last frost. Tomatoes need fresh, well-fertilized, well-drained soil that is kept moist (but not wet!). They should be planted in a sunny, sheltered spot with at least 6 hours of sunlight, preferably more. Pinch out, it is best to grow single shoots. Maturity: medium-early, 70-84 days. Further growing tips for the Cocktail pole tomato variety.
