Description

Yauhtli (or Yautli) is a species of Tagetes native to Mexico and Central America. Also known as marigold, pericon and Mexican tarragon, the herb of this plant has a fantastic aroma reminiscent of woodruff. It is an important ingredient in genuine Aztec cocoa preparations. It also tastes delicious as a tea or spice.

Growing tips

A perennial, non-hardy shrub that is also cultivated outdoors (where it thrives much better) as an annual plant. Loves loose soil and bright locations. Overwintering indoors is possible when grown as a container plant. Sowing: Germinates within a few days when pre-cultivated. Light germinator (just scatter the seeds on the soil and press down).
