Description

This tomato variety 'Black Shadow' is said to have a good flavor and is acidic, sweet and juicy. The plant offers round-oval tomatoes weighing approx. 50-100g, which turn indigo-black in the sun under the effect of anthocyanins and then ripen with a striped/tiger transition from dark to orange-red. Strong antioxidants. The fruit should be picked when the neck of the tomato starts to turn black. The skin is very thin, but also sensitive. This is a new indigo variety that was proposed after several years of selection by Lee Goodwin in New Mexico. The plant grows to a height of just under 2.0 meters. It is also very productive. Two to three shoots can be left.

Non hybrid

Not frost resistant

Growing tips

Germination in 5-14 days at 20-25°C. Tomatoes require a lot of light, warmth, water and nutrients. They are grown from seed from March onwards on the windowsill. The seedlings should be planted deep, up to the first leaf base, so that the root system is enlarged by additional lateral roots. Unlike most other crops, tomatoes should always be planted in the same place. Under-sowing with low-growing plants is a good option. Due to their determinate growth, vine tomatoes do not need to be thinned out - water the tomatoes: Depending on whether you pre-sow or direct sow tomatoes, and depending on the location and variety, you will need to water your tomato plants differently often. Tomatoes can develop very deep roots that can even draw water from the groundwater. In this case, you hardly need to water them, if at all. Pay attention to the leaves, if they hang limp you should water your tomato plants. The soil dries out more quickly, especially in pots, raised beds and raised beds, so you will need to water them more often.
