The winged bean belongs to the legume family (Fabaceae) and is native to New Guinea. As a perennial plant, it has a growth period of 25.5 weeks. Since it is not cold-hardy, it requires warm conditions and a location with plenty of light.
Origin:
New Guinea
Use a starter culture and plant the seeds about 2 cm deep in soil at a temperature of 25 to 30 °C, where germination takes about 2 weeks. When planting, make sure to space the plants 25 cm apart in the row and 100 cm between rows. Keep the soil consistently moist for this cold-sensitive crop; you’ll hardly need any additional nutrients due to its low nutrient requirements.
