This basil variety impresses with its unusual appearance. The dark purple leaves are very decorative both in the flower pot and on the plate. The aromatic variety is best suited for growing in pots or containers and provides a nice contrast to other green-leaved herb classics. Many recipes in Mediterranean cuisine call for basil, and it should not be underestimated as a medicinal herb either. The absolute summer classic is of course caprese, mozzarella and tomatoes with fresh basil. The herb has a beneficial effect on digestion, stimulates the appetite, strengthens the stomach, relieves cramps and has a calming effect. Even today, basil tea is often drunk for stomach upsets, abdominal cramps or flatulence. This herb should only be used fresh and uncooked, as the delicate aroma of the herb is easily destroyed when heated. Therefore, add immediately before consumption or add to cold dishes.

Sow indoors in pots from mid-March or directly outdoors from mid-May. Basil is a light germinator. So just sprinkle the seeds on the moist soil and press down lightly.
