Description

The garden cypress 'Van Pelts Blue' is a beautiful columnar cypress variety. As an evergreen specimen tree, (bot.) Chamaecyparis lawsoniana 'Van Pelts Blue' is an attractive focal point in gardens or parks. The leaves of this green shrub are scale-shaped and strikingly blue in color. The narrow leaves create outstanding accents on the shoots. They lie close together and remain on the tree for three years before falling off. Chamaecyparis lawsoniana 'Van Pelts Blue' is one of the representatives of the false cypresses that can reach an impressive age of several hundred years in good locations. They originally come from the west coast of North America. The garden cypress 'Van Pelts Blue' is robust and undemanding. Due to its dense growth, the plant is suitable as a practical privacy hedge or as a solitary main attraction in the garden. The 'Van Pelts Blue' garden cypress has a slender, columnar habit. The branches grow tightly upright and are dense. The conifer grows to a height of five to eight meters and is two to three meters wide. The conifer provides an outstanding sight and effectively accentuates its location. The densely growing tree is also attractive for smaller gardens. The annual growth is between 20 and 40 centimeters. Small, inconspicuous flowers appear in April.
