Ivory bamboo, also known as bamboo Fargesia 'Ivory Ibis', is an ideal choice for the garden as it is very opaque, rather upright and extremely hardy. It is particularly suitable for a bamboo hedge or as a privacy screen. In spring, the garden bamboo unfurls its pretty lime green culms, which, in combination with the almost white culm sheaths and fresh green, elongated leaves, give it an unmistakable appearance. This noble appearance has earned it the apt German name 'ivory bamboo'. Its dark green leaves also give it an elegant touch. The Fargesia 'Ivory Ibis' bamboo, an undemanding variety from the Hubei region in China, grows upright and, like all Fargesias, clumps. With a height of around 3-4 meters, this hardy bamboo not only offers protection from prying eyes, but also defies extreme conditions such as severe cold and strong easterly winds. Like many Fargesia varieties, it protects itself in winter by curling its leaves. This bamboo is particularly robust and is ideal for sunny, semi-shady or shady locations.
