The ranunculus (Ranunculus asiaticus) is a perennial herbaceous plant originally from the eastern Mediterranean. It is characterized by its lush, double flowers, which appear in a variety of colors such as red, pink, yellow, orange and white. The flowers have a diameter of around 5 to 8 cm and sit on sturdy, upright stems that can reach a height of 20 to 45 cm. The deeply incised, dark green leaves form an attractive contrast to the bright flowers. Due to their beauty, ranunculus are popular ornamental plants in gardens and are often used as cut flowers.
