Description

The pill-bearing donar's beard is a perennial that feels most at home when it is allowed to develop and spread freely in the garden. (Bot.) Jovibarba globifera subsp. Globifera is known as the common fringed houseleek and is a plant species that belongs to the genus Sempervivum. This belongs to the family Sempervivum. The pill-bearing donar's beard has a spherical, almost round growth habit. These growing spheres look as if they would take on a life of their own at the slightest touch. The pill-bearing donar's beard is generally a very hardy and easy-care perennial. The owner has little to do with caring for it and still gets a lot of pleasure from this uncomplicated plant. Pillwort is a popular filler perennial for filling smaller or larger gaps in rock gardens. It more than fulfills this requirement, as it simply likes to grow freely. It particularly likes to have enough space to spread out. Thanks to its self-reproducing nature, Jovibarba globifera subsp. Globifera can be used to quickly decorate bare areas in the garden. The pill-bearing donar's beard also has a very decorative effect. It grows up to 15 cm tall and is quite ground-covering due to its flat growth. This gives the impression that snails could be a threat to it. On the contrary, snails avoid the pill-bearing donar's beard. Much to the delight of the owners, they crawl around the perennial without causing any damage. This beautiful plant adapts to many different substrates. It is therefore also unbeatable as a green roof plant. Here, too, it looks beautiful all year round and is easy to care for. There is space for up to 26 plants per square meter to give the pill-bearing Donar's beard an all-encompassing effect. Of course, plant lovers can also be patient and wait until the common fringed houseleek reproduces on its own. New plants regularly sprout from the mother plant and form rosettes. Pillwort is not only suitable for the typical rock garden, but also for well-arranged rocky areas or alpine gardens due to its undemanding nature. This grateful plant feels particularly at home when the ground is somewhat gravelly, stony or unmoved. It grows alongside small and large stones or directly between them. This makes it a unique and decorative garden plant. Jovibarba globifera subsp. globifera tolerates warmth and sunlight well and prefers locations that offer it just that. Even long dry periods do not harm the pill-bearing donar's beard at all. The perennial is a highlight for rock gardens, dry beds or between the stones of frieze walls.
