Oregano is a perennial, hardy spice and medicinal herb from the labiate family. It is used fresh or dried for cooking.
Non hybrid
Not frost resistant
You can sow oregano directly or pre-grow it in plant pots. As oregano is a light germinator, you should only press the seeds down lightly and not cover them with soil. A wind-protected location is recommended for growing. Oregano can also be propagated by cuttings or dividing the plant. You can harvest leaves and shoots from June. Older oregano plants should be cut back in spring to encourage the growth of young, fresh shoots. During the winter, it is worth covering the shrub with mulch to prevent cold damage.
