Description

Common peony (Paeonia officinalis) is also known as peony, true peony or farmer's peony. The common peony (Paeonia officinalis) is a relatively robust garden plant, which also applies to many of its cultivated varieties. Peonies are perennial herbaceous plants (herbaceous perennials) with an upright growth habit. Peonies bloom from the end of April, beginning of May, depending on the weather. The flower colors range from white to yellow and light pink to dark red. The shape of the flower varies from single cupped to densely double.

Growing tips

The best time to plant peonies is in the fall. Peonies are planted deep enough so that their rootstock is about three to four centimetres below the soil surface.
