Solanum ferox, also known as hairy eggplant. Tarambulo is a Thai nightshade plant with 5 cm large fruits. These are fuzzy, which can be easily rubbed off - and the orange-colored balls shine. The taste is sour but fruity. With a little raw cane sugar, it can be used to make great lemonade, just puree the peeled fruit, dilute with water and sweeten. Traditionally, however, it is used to add acidity to Thai curries or to give the Nam Prik spicy sauce a fine, sour taste. The plant is somewhat reminiscent of an eggplant, which is also a nightshade plant, but Tarambulo grows much larger. Habitat: Sun, partial shade Life form: perennial Usable parts: Fruits Use: Fruit Height of growth: 150cm
Non hybrid
Not frost resistant
Grow in nutrient-rich soil in a sunny, warm location. To prevent the plants from bending, you can tie them up. As with tomatoes, side shoots should be removed by breaking them off directly at the base. From time to time, it is worth removing some of the fruit shoots so that the remaining fruit ripens better.
