Hemp is usually an annual herbaceous plant. Depending on the environmental conditions, the perennial plant can grow to very different heights. Under favorable conditions, on moist but not waterlogged soil with a good supply of nutrients, it can grow to a height of up to 5 meters. But even stunted forms from unfavorable locations, with growth heights of around 20 centimetres, can flower and fruit successfully. Wild plants usually do not reach more than about three meters in height. Hemp used for fiber production grows straight upright in a dense stand. Free-growing plants are more or less richly branched at the top.

Fertilize at the right time. For example with bat droppings. With special fertilizers, you can also induce flowering earlier so that they are ready in time. It is better to plant them further apart, then they will really grow much larger.
