Description

Blue St. Galler has an oval shape and flat eyes. Very smooth skin and dark purple marbled flesh. Intense creamy flavor. Predominantly firm in cooking. Good for chips, boiled potatoes, jacket potatoes, fries and mashed potatoes. Good shelf life. It is a 2004 breeding by Swiss agronomist Christoph Gämberli. It is a cross of the old varieties Congo (Old Swede) and Prättigau.

Non hybrid

Not frost resistant

Growing tips

Flesh hardly discolors during cooking. Plant out from a soil temperature of 8°C. Keep frost-free. When the plants reach a height of about 10 cm, mound to form a dam. (In some cases, an early harvest is already indicated from June).
