Heart-shaped, (pink-)red ripening, tasty, large (7-12cm, up to 500g), juicy beef tomatoes on an approx. 160cm tall vine, a variety from the Nahuelbuta Mountains in Chile. The fruits vary slightly in shape and size, but are usually flat-round and ribbed at the shoulders. There are several fruit chambers in the tender, melting, firm and juicy flesh, but there are only a few seeds. The skin is soft and yet relatively burst-resistant. The variety is characterized by a strong, old-fashioned tomato taste with a good balance of sweetness and acidity. It takes around 70 days from fertilization to harvest.
Non hybrid
Not frost resistant
Whether in a greenhouse, container or outdoors, 'Nahuelbuta Pink' is undemanding and can be cultivated almost anywhere. Even in cool regions, there have been no major problems in the open ground. The only problem with outdoor cultivation is the low stem base of the fruit. Water tends to collect here, which can lead to the fruit bursting and rotting. Plenty of sun and precautionary support of the panicles leads to good yields.
