This tropical tree is native to Southeast Asia and belongs to the oxalis family. Since the carambola is not cold-hardy, it requires a minimum temperature of 18 °C and a location with plenty of light to thrive. Under optimal conditions, a mature tree can yield a substantial harvest of up to 135 kg per plant.
Origin:
Southeast Asia
It’s best to start the seedlings between weeks 14 and 39; the seeds will germinate after about 1.5 weeks. Keep the soil evenly moist throughout the entire growing phase and protect the plant from the cold, as it needs at least 18 °C to grow. Since the star fruit tree grows into a full-fledged tree, you should give it plenty of space, spacing it 600 cm apart.
