The ranunculus (Ranunculus asiaticus) is a perennial, herbaceous plant native to the eastern Mediterranean region. It is characterized by its lush, double flowers, which appear in a variety of colors such as red, pink, yellow, orange, and white. The flowers have a diameter of about 5 to 8 cm and are borne on sturdy, upright stems that can reach a height of 20 to 45 cm. The deeply cut, dark green leaves provide an attractive contrast to the bright flowers. Due to their beauty, ranunculus are popular ornamental plants in gardens and are often used as cut flowers.
Before planting, the bulbous roots of the ranunculus should be soaked in lukewarm water for about 12 hours to promote germination.
